Whether you’re visiting for a few days or moving for good, dry desert weather can zap the moisture right out of your skin and hair almost instantaneously. For some, their entire beauty routine needs to be completely revamped to cater to the new climate. Don't be afraid, beauties - all you need to do is go with the flow. Here are our 5 most received beauty questions (and our answers) for those moving from a humid to a dry climates.
The Complaint: My fine hair is officially out of volume.
The Fix: Obtaining a little oomph in your ‘do is going to be made much more difficult for fine haired beauties in climates with little to no moisture. There are a few ways to help with this (we even wrote a whole blog about it), but a fast and easy fix is to stop washing your hair every day. Dry shampoo geared to add more volume will more than likely be your go to styling product from now on.
The Complaint: My dry skin cannot get enough moisture, no matter what I do.
The Fix: No getting around the fact that you’re going to be swimming in lotion for the remainder of your stay in dry weather. We suggest applying every day (morning AND night, if necessary) and to exfoliate regularly so your skin can absorb it more easily. The Hempz body lotion is super nourishing and smells fantastic without leaving your skin feeling sticky or oily.

The Complaint: My old moisturizer is too light, and I have no idea which one to use.
The Fix: Odds are that if you’re moving from a humid to a dry climate, your moisturizer is probably too light for this new climate (even if you have oily skin). Our suggestion would be one of two options: first, upgrade the hydration level of your current moisturizer. For instance, if you’re using the Dermalogica Active Moist, you may want to try the Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance instead. The second option is to add a hydration cream before moisturizing if you’d like to retain the benefits of what you’re currently using.
The Complaint: Texturizing products don’t work in my hair like they used to.
The Fix: We couldn’t tell you how many times we’ve had customers ask us why their Bumble Surf Spray isn’t working in dry weather. The reason for this is most surf products are made to enhance beach hair in beach weather (meaning there’s usually humidity). Luckily, Bumble came out with a few new products from the Surf line, such as the Bumble Surf Infusion. The Surf Infusion is a little more hydrating, yet still provides that texture you’re looking for.

The Complaint: My curls are not nearly as defined as they used to be.
The Fix: Hydration is what your curly sues are lacking, all you have to do is switch up your styling products a tad. If you've got corkscrew curls or ringlets, a product similar to the Bumble Anti-Humidity Gel Oil will give it enough moisture and shape to get them looking back to normal without any unwanted frizz. For wavy babes, diffuse blow drying with the Bumble Bb Curl Defining Creme oughta do the trick.
