By now, you’ve surely heard us raving about the rule-bending haircare line, R+Co. It’s the brand everyone can get behind – hairstylists, curly haired babes, animal lovers, natural product seekers, everyone. When celebrity hairstylists Howard McLaren, Garren and Thom Priano collaborated to bring this innovative line into existence, they’d had enough experience and knowledge in their corner to really nip typical hair woes in the bud. A few products in particular really set the stage for stellar hairstyling, and today, we’re going to focus on our current favorite: the R+Co Analog Cleansing Foam. In our humble opinion, it's the best co-wash out there - here's why we think so.
First of all...what is it?
This is a one of a kind cleansing foam unlike any we’ve ever seen before. It’s described as 25% shampoo and 75% conditioner, meaning it narrows things down to one easy step for you in the shower. It functions as a detangler to boot, meaning ANOTHER less step when styling. Howard and the boys formulated all of their shampoos and conditioners with the idea in mind that “clean is a style”. That means each can be used with or without styling products, and you’ll still get the look you’re going for. What we’re saying is that you can use the Analog Cleansing Foam for your shampoo, conditioner, AND styling aid – yes, in ONE PRODUCT! We should probably also mention that all R+Co products are paraben, sulfate, mineral oil, AND cruelty free...which means a guilt free hair wash.
Who should be using it?
We recommend Analog for anyone with curly, color-treated, coarse, thick or fine hair. We ESPECIALLY recommend it for anyone on the road a lot, as it completely downsizes your haircare regimen. Dudes are known to love this product, as it keeps things as minimal and simple as possible. If you regularly dye your hair bright pink or blue, it will keep your color from fading as quickly. Basically, if you live under the sun, you're going to love Analog.
What does it do?
This product is designed to give your hair soft texture. It’s mild enough to be completely safe for color-treated hair (especially fantasy colors). Its formula contains the following good-for-you ingredients:
- Argan Oil from Egypt, which softens and nourishes the cuticle, improves manageability and protects the hair from nasty environmental harm.
- Green Tea from Japan, which infuses the hair with antioxidants and adds sheen and strength.
- Horsetail Extract from India, which cleanses the hair gently while smoothing the cuticle.
- Nettle Leaf Extract from France, which adds shine while mending damage.
How do I use it?
For those of you who haven't co-washed before, listen up: all you have to do is massage it into your hair, leave it in for 3 minutes while you do your other shower business, and then rinse. If you’ve got thick, curly, or coarse hair, this is going to be a killer one-step product that you can use pretty much every time you shampoo. If you’re someone with baby fine hair, you’ll want to avoid using it every time so it’s not completely flat. You can even blow dry without any styling products to get a clean, full, shiny and natural look.
